A great video for all of us to remember that the danger signs are there for a reason.

I liked your video. What was your reaction to the boys that ignored the signs?
Comment by Jane L. Schreurs on July 24, 2009 at 11:56am
I was shocked to see those boys climbing down the side! I hesitated and thought about whether or not I should say something. My daughter begged me not to. Later I spoke with my brother who is a deputy sheriff and he said he definitely would have said something but only because he could have forced them to stop.

I'm sure this is a video and story your students will never forget when you share it with them, Jane. The way you made this personal but also focused on a broader message makes this an exemplary public service announcement, I think. Great work.

Jane, it's easy to tell that the story is an important message to you and will touch many that see it. A great public service announcement.

Jane,
Great job. That gave me chills. This will be one video that I will show to my sixth graders! The addition at the end about the two that crossed the fence was a very good ending showing us that curiosity can get the better of us.

I think all of us have at some time or another ignored warning signs thinking that nothing could happen to us. It's stories like this that remind us of the possible fatal outcome of ignoring a warning sign.
