Lenore:

Hi, my name's Don Welch. My family; Mom, Dad and 5 siblings lived in the Rattan area from 1945 (right after the war) until 1952. My father used to tell of a tornado which hit Antlers (I guess it's the same tornado in 1945), and how he and other neighbors volunteered or got volunteered to search for survivors shortly after the tornado hit. He said the town was devastated and he did "OK" in his search until he picked up the small hand of a baby, and then he 'lost it". That's all I remember him saying about the tornado. Anyway, just thought you'd find this interesting since my dad was somewhere there at the same time your dad was.......small world, huh?

What a great story, Lenore! It's so funny because my "daddy" told me the story of the same tornado!
