Asher students invited to State Superintendent's Technology Day at the State Capitol

We are thrilled to announce that students at Asher Public School have been invited to showcase their techological expertise on February 16th at the State Capitol. Specifically, the students will share their knowledge and experience interviewing WWII veterans (and Vietnam veterans) in an effort to capture and preserve oral history. They were taught the basics of digital storytelling after I attended a COV workshop in November, '07 conducted by no other than Wesley Fryer and Dr. Dana Owens DeLong. The students learned the how to's behind PhotoStory 3, Switch, Audacity, and Wave plus gained valuable knowledge as a result of interviewing these gentlemen personally. At present, all of the veterans and their wives will be in attendance as well. What a valuable, beneficial, and worthwhile project this has been for all parties involved!

That is fantastic news, Whitney! Thanks for sharing! I wish you all the best of luck and wish I could be there to hear your students share about their experiences. Unfortunately I have another commitment and will out of the state that day.

I'd like to provide you with some COV flyers that you can share and distribute that day at the capitol, to let others know about our project and website. If there are other things you need or want please let me know. This is GREAT news! :-)

Thanks! Would you like to email me the COV flyers? I would be happy to distribute. The kids are even excited about our "engagement". Thanks again for all your help. Oh, I'll look for you next week at the OTA Conference. I can pick up the flyers then if you'd like. Whitney
