I am presenting at Encyclomedia on the 19th at 1:45. Please attend my presentation. The title of my presentation is "Stir up with your stirrup". When man invented the stirrup, he could then fight war from horseback according to Postman's book, "Technopoly". Technology is our stirrup! I will share the digital stories that my students completed specifically the ones dealing with our WWII vets and their interviews. Education cannot stay neutral. It is so important since we live in, according to Thomas Friedman's book, "The World Is Flat", a world whose economy is driven by technology and is globally connected. Our students neeed to be prepared for the world they will face. Paulo Freire in his book says teaching should very simply be democratic in nature in that teaching requires involvement and presence by a teacher who is morally obligated to be a lifelong devoted learner constantly curious and intent on inspiring the curiousity of their students. In other words, do something! Where would we be as a nation had our WWII vets not done something? They became actively involved. And, they are still willing to be actively involved. I've invited them all to my presentation at Encyclomedia and they've accepted! So please come if possible. I will also have door prizes! So far I have atleast 7 gift certificates worth $50 each and one $100 gift certificate! Come and stir up with your stirrup! See you there! Whitney Allen

I want to thank Dr. Dana Owens and Wesley Fryer for the recognition they bestowed upon me at the COV "Celebration" held during Encyclomedia in September at OKC and the laptop computer they so graciously presented to me. I am humbled by their generosity. The opportunity to participate in
the COV project has been truly transformative for me and my students as well. Thank you again and I look forward to future and continued involvement!
